Update from the New Zealand Myanmar Chamber of Commerce

The NZMCC officially launched in November 2017. It’s been a busy seven months since then, formalising the set up and membership of the Chamber, plus hosting some distinctive events.

These have included Yangon Echoes book exhibition evening, written by Kiwi historian Virginia Henderson and her partner Tim Webster. We also hosted the second annual Hangi (which we are pretty sure is the only Hangi to have taken place in Myanmar), and we took the honours in a France vs NZ Wine and Cheese Challenge.

In June we hosted the official NZMCC Membership Launch which was a fantastic evening filled with an interesting talk from Vicky Bowman, Director of the Mynamar Centre of Responsbile Business, sublime New Zealand-inspired canapes, and great New Zealand wine.

On 5 July, we held a successful AGM which saw a strong number of new Executive Committee Members join the NZMCC Executive Committee.

July and August see NZMCC partnering with some of the other more established chambers in Myanmar for some joint networking events, with the goal of further establishing the Chamber and bringing more members on board.
