TODD & WALKER Law is a full service law firm based in Queenstown and Wanaka in the Queenstown Lakes District, New Zealand’s fastest growing district and the Southern Hemisphere’s premier year round tourism destination.  It is a leading law firm known for providing experienced, pragmatic, cost effective legal advice.

The firm was recently identified by Australasian legal sector magazine LawFuel as one of six emerging New Zealand law firms and described it as “entrepreneurial and with a strong small firm culture that can tackle big law jobs”.

The firm’s founding partner Graeme Todd has practised in the region since 1981 and has been involved as an advisor on some of the Districts largest developments.  Both he and fellow partner Michael Walker have previously held the position of General Counsel to the Queenstown Lakes District Council.  During his career Graeme has acted for a number of high profile entities and individuals based throughout the world, including many from South East and Northern Asia, and in particular Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, China and Hong Kong.  Graeme advises his clients on all aspects of their investments in New Zealand and in particular in the sectors of infrastructure, resort development, visitor accommodation, viticulture, rural, commercial property and residential property.  Graeme is regularly engaged as a New Zealand based director and owner’s representative for such entities and individuals.  He has also in the past been a participant and speaker at New Zealand Government road shows promoting investment in New Zealand.

Senior Associate Peter Sygrove was admitted to the bar in 2008 and has spent his career working in top-tier law firms in New Zealand and the United Kingdom.  Peter joined TODD & WALKER Law in early 2019 and advises clients on investments relating to commercial property, overseas investment, business and tourism infrastructure projects.

Graeme and Peter head up the firm’s Overseas Investment division.  They are regularly called upon to provide advice and prepare applications under the Overseas Investment Act regime in respect of large scale property acquisitions and developments in New Zealand.

TODD & WALKER Law currently has 19 staff of which 14 have legal qualifications and operates from modern offices in Queenstown and Wanaka.  The firm is happy to provide references from existing and former clients on request.
